        本哈德.施林克的《生死朗读》属于令人难以置信的一生忏悔。读者好像在屏气凝神地倾听,着了魔似的,仿佛身临其境。
        该小说从十五岁的男主人公触摸大他二十多岁、曾任纳粹党卫军看守的恋人的身体开始,到几十年后主人公与自杀的恋人的告别结束。小说最终以死亡为结尾。女主人翁不想重新回到社会中,这时滞漠多年的男主人公才意识到和她有无法割裂的联系。
        汉娜和米歇尔的故事发生在德国,因为本世纪的德国历史满是前所未闻、骇人听闻的有教益的实例。该书讲述了法律条文在回答我们这个时代最大的道德灾难问题时的束手无策。
        施林克描述了一个关于爱和性,接着是爱的背叛和爱之死的故事,它属于那种流芳百世的故事。人们会一遍又一遍地读它,为了找出自己到底能够做些什么。
